Estella Anna May Morrison

     Estella Anna May Morrison, 101 yrs., of Battle Creek died at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility on Monday, May 5, 2008. 
   She was born on November 13, 1906 to William Harrison and Libby Darling (Page) Hoover in Assyria Center.  Estella was a 1927 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School, resided in this area all her life and wintered in Kissimmee, Florida for nearly 30 years.  She retired as a buyer and millinery manager from the former Seaman's Ladies Ready to Wear, where she was employed for over 25 years.

Morrison on November 3, 1929 in Battle Creek.  She was preceded in death by Gordon, her husband of 53 years on April 30, 1983; and by three sisters, Ethel M. Hollman, Susan Mallison and Laura Kingery.  Surviving are two sons, Gary A. (Judith A.) Morrison of Olivet, Steven L. (Nancy L.) Morrison of Plainwell; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren. 
   Estella was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, its Priscilla Circle and the Sew & Sews; and the Sigma Alpha Phi Beta Sorority.  She was an avid gardener and a member of the National, Battle Creek and Goguac Lake Garden Clubs.  One of Estella's passions was dancing and she was a member of the Chesterfield, Revelers and Swamp Angels Dance Clubs.  She played Bridge with numerous Bridge Clubs in town, enjoyed exercising and swimming at the Burnham Brook Center.  She loved people, remembered personal and historical details and was a member of the Battle Creek Social Club.  She also enjoyed cooking for the students at the Chief Noonday Camp for Lakeview Schools and had a gift for sewing, crocheting and hat making. 
   At the request of the family, friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Thursday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where they will be received from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
   Funeral services to celebrate Estella's life will be officiated by Dr. Jeffrey S. Carlson 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2008 at Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
   Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or Calhoun County Medical Care Facility Patient Activity Fund.
