Alice "Joan" Coplin  

coplin1.jpgAlice “Joan” Coplin, 71, of Battle Creek died Monday morning, March 10, 2008 at the Bronson Methodist Hospital.  She was born in Lansing, Michigan on April 12, 1936 the daughter of Everett A. and Alice Ann (Watkins) Ellison.
    
Joan married John Alfred Coplin at the Ainger Bible Chapel in Olivet, Michigan on March 4, 1955; he preceded her in death on December 23, 1998.  She is survived by her 3 children, Patti (Keith) Halverson, David (Arlene) Coplin and Kathy Budrow, all of Battle Creek; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and a sister, Charlotte “Chuckie” (Don) Jardot of Eaton Rapids.  Joan was also preceded in death her parents and a brother, Ronnie (Lois) Ellison.
    
Joan had a “Green Thumb” and loved gardening and flowers.  She also enjoyed painting, watching TV and spending time with her family.
    
At the request of the family, they will receive friends 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home.  Funeral services to celebrate Joan’s life will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 14, 2008  at the funeral home with Rev. Robert G. Muirhead, officiating.  Interment will follow at Hicks Cemetery.  Memorials directed to the Pennfield Exchange Club or Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice, would be appreciated.
