Adis Eugene "Bud" Gay

Adis Eugene "Bud" Gay, age 89, of Richland, MI, died unexpectedly Monday morning, March 17, 2014 at his residence. Bud, the son of Adis and Mabel (Smeltzer) Gay, was born on August 27, 1924 in Vandalia, MI and was a 1942 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. He was a machinist for over 45 years in the paper industry of Kalamazoo for 26 of those years and finally retiring in 1981 after 19 years at General Motors of Kalamazoo. Bud was a member of the Gull Lake United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer having made a hole-in-one during his playing days and also an extremely gifted bowler, but his true passion in life was being a great Husband, Dad and Grandpa!

Bud was united in marriage to the love of his life, the former Doris L. Badger on November 15, 1942 in Galesburg, MI. Surviving is his wife of almost 72 years, Doris; his daughter, Patricia A. Hummell of Portage, MI; two sons, Thomas E. (Janice) Gay of Shelby Township, MI and Stephen Michael (Linda) Gay of Portage; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; his sister, Kathryn "Kay" Deamud of Battle Creek, MI and a special friend, John Rszeszutko of NC. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Richard Ferrell; a grandson, Stephen T. Ferrell and a son–in–law, Darrell Hummell.

The Funeral Service to celebrate Bud's life will be held on Saturday, March 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at the Gull Lake United Methodist Church, 8640 Gull Road, Richland 49083 with the Rev. Dr. Mona K. Joslyn, Pastor, officiating. Friends will be received on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the Church and immediately following the Service, family and friends are invited to continue Bud's life celebration with a time of fellowship and a luncheon in the Church Fellowship Hall. Private burial will take place in Prairie Home Cemetery, Richland. Memorial contributions in Bud's honor may be directed to the Gull Lake United Methodist Church.
