Allison Jean (Barron) Chase of Battle Creek, MI
Allison, a longtime resident of Battle Creek, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the age of 89. She was born on September 23, 1926 in Halifax, New Brunswick, CAN and was the daughter of David and Jean (McLean) Barron. Allison was preceded in death almost twenty years ago by her husband, Jack. She was a long-time volunteer to many Battle Creek organizations, was an accomplished painter and in her later years, was well recognized for her knitting and for baking her renowned pound cakes.
Allison is survived by her daughter, Susan J. (Bob) Klem of Brighton, MI; her son, David J. (Rita) Chase of Port Washington, WI; four grandchildren, Brian (Ellen) Klem, Jennifer (Thomas Mitchell) Klem, Greg and Nick Chase; her great-grandson, Andy Klem and her sister, Shirley Wheaton of Moncton, New Brunswick, CAN. In addition, her extended family and dear friends, especially Bennie Hurth and her feline companion, Cooper, who together gave her independence and friendship.
The Memorial Service to celebrate Allison's life will be held on Saturday, October 3rd at 3:00 p.m. at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek, with the Rev. Chad M. Parmalee, Pastor of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Allison's honor may be directed to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan (HSSCM), 2500 Watkins Road, Battle Creek, MI 49015.
