Allysen Renae "Ally" Gates

Allysen Renae "Ally" Gates, age 19, of University Park, Iowa and formerly of Battle Creek passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday afternoon, May 27, 2020 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. Ally was born in Battle Creek on June 19, 2000 and was the loving daughter of Ronald Gates II and Dawn Marie (Ames) Chapman. She graduated from Harper Creek High School with the Class of 2018 and was currently studying Early Childhood Education at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Ally is survived by her parents, Ron (Jessica) Gates II of Hastings and Dawn M. Chapman of Battle Creek; her brothers & sisters, Elizabeth Gates, Andrew Gates, Tyler Gates, Carson Gates, April Gates, Carter Chapman and Savannah Chapman; her boyfriend, Trae Hunt; her grandparents, Ronald & Wendy Gates, Christine & Eldon Zook, Douglas & Helen Ames, Mark Johncock, Veronica Wylie, and Deanna Marks; her great-grandparents, Keith & Betty Johncock, Jackie Wylie, Dave McClelland, James Jones, and Scott Adams; her dogs, Jax and Bolt; and two aunts, Amanda Standish and Brooke Johncock; uncles Justin Milcher, Brandon (Miranda) Milcher and Blake (Alyssa) Johncock, many cousins and great aunts and uncles. She was sadly preceded in death by her aunt, Nikki Gates; cousins April Gates and Samantha Timmons; her puppy, "Pancake"; and several great-grandparents.

Ally loved spending time her family and was a fierce sister & protector of her siblings. She was also an incredibly loyal friend, and truly enjoyed singing & karaoke, make-up, gaming, and pro wrestling.

The family will receive friends 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 5th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek. The governments orders of limited capacity and social distancing guidelines will be followed throughout the visitation time. A private-invitation only service will be held at a later date.
