Alora Mae Wemple, 85, of Battle Creek, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 28, 2014, at the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility.
She was born in Fort McKinley, Ohio, on February 7, 1929, to Leonard and Garnet (Eubank) Judy. After the passing of her parents, she moved to Battle Creek to live with an aunt, Olive Rochelle. Alora graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1948.
On October 9, 1948, she married Wendell H. Wemple, at St. Philip Catholic Church. They had five sons and two daughters. At the time of Wendell's death in 2012, they had been married for sixty-four years.
Family was always of the utmost importance to Alora. She was an extremely loving and caring mother. She did not work outside the home until her youngest child was a teenager, working at Barker Manufacturing for 15 years. For many years she was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents and her husband Wendell, Alora was preceded in death by a son, David; three brothers, Marvin Dwain, Harold, and Paul, all of Ohio; her aunt, Olive Rochelle; and two grandchildren, Gregory and Jamie Wemple.
She is survived by four sons, Dwain (Karen), Michael, Brian (Shawn), and Christopher (Lisa); and two daughters, Sherri Wemple and Julie Ayres, all of Battle Creek; one brother, Keith (Paula) Judy, of Arcanum, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where the Parish Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Friday, August 1, 2014 at St. Philip Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hicks Cemetery.
