Alvin J. "Al" Monarch, Jr., age 76, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 18, 2020. He was born in Battle Creek on October 26, 1943, the son of Alvin J. and Margaret M. (Williamson) Monarch. Al graduated from Harper Creek High School with the Class of 1961 and faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He retired from the Kellogg Co. after more than 18 years and had also worked at Clark Equipment and Carquest Auto Parts. Al enjoyed fishing, building & working on houses, and spending time with his family.
Al married the "Love of His Life", Helen L. Cochrun in Etna, Ohio on November 23, 1962; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Eric (Dena) Monarch, Tonia (Rick) Myers, and Andrea (Andrew) Langs, all of Battle Creek; three grandchildren, Kay (Craig) McKinnon, Chase Carl, And Dustin Carl; two great grandchildren, Breslyn McKinnon and Miles McKinnon; six brothers & sisters; and several nieces & nephews.
Due to recent government regulations, a private family service has been held and a public gathering will be held later in the year when it is once again safe to gather together. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to Grace Hospice of Kalamazoo or the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
