Ann Margaret Skertic, 100, of Battle Creek died peacefully with her family at her side at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility on Monday, November 12, 2018.
Ann was born January 14, 1918 in East Chicago, Indiana the daughter of Victor Geza and Anna (Horvath) Raganyi. She grew up in Hammond, Indiana.
Ann M. Raganyi was united in marriage to John F. "Zeb" Skertic on May 14, 1942. Sadly Ann was preceded in death by her husband Zeb on March 16, 1984. Surviving are four daughters, Sharon Brockway of Battle Creek, Annette (Mike) Spahr of Belmont, Leslie (John) Robertson and Kathy (Dana) Andrews all of Battle Creek; eight grandchildren, Sherry Brockway, Michael Brockway, Brandy (Chad) Boylan, Scott (Amy) Spahr, Tim (Krista) Spahr, Benjamin Spahr, Hilary (Scott) Fletcher, John Robertson; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Ann was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, James Brockway; four brothers and three sisters.
Ann was a member of St. Philip Roman Catholic Church. Years ago she enjoyed bowling on the Grand Trunk Women's League. She also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking and dancing. Ann will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Friends will be received by Ann's family 4:00 â 6:00 p.m. Monday at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, where the Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. John D. Fleckenstein at St. Philip Roman Catholic Church 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
