Annie M. (Komarck) Ure

Annie Margaret (Komarck) Ure, 99, a lifelong resident of Battle Creek died peacefully with family by her side on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Brookdale Assisted Living. 

 

Annie was born January 2, 1925, in Battle Creek, Michigan to Frank G. and Anna H. (Frcak) Komarck. She was a 1943 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. Anna worked in the family grocery business, Komarck’s Super Markets, as a child until retiring.

 

Annie was united in marriage to Danny Ure on April 13, 1943, at St. Philip Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Danny on October 19, 1992. Surviving are her daughters, Karol (Ronald) Davidson of Jackson, Susan (Donald) Hopkins of Hendersonville, NC; her son, Daniel (Laura) Ure of Battle Creek; “like-a-son”, Raul Garza of Mexico City; grandchildren, Brenda (Thomas) Eddy, Wayne  Davidson (Tricia Braun), Courtney Hopkins, Elliott (Erin) Ure, Evan Ure (Kalleigh Bowman); great-grandchildren, Madison (Matt) Conklin, MacKenna Eddy (Johnny Heil), Brianna and Mia Davidson, Elin, Emryn and Enley Ure, and another one on the way; great great-grandson, Bryson Conklin; two step grandchildren, seven step great-grandchildren,  two step great great-grandchildren and a sister, Angeline Hinton. In addition to her husband, Annie was also preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Anna and two brothers, Paul “Bud” Komarck and John Komarck. 

 

Annie was a lifelong member of St. Philip Catholic Church and a longtime member of the Leila, B.C. Health System, Bronson B.C. hospital auxiliary with over 8600 volunteer hours that she was very proud of. She and her husband, Danny, were members of Marywood Country Club. They loved golfing and dancing together. They traveled all around the world as members of the Michigan Food Dealers Association and enjoyed their retirement wintering in Siesta Key, Florida. Annie was an avid Bridge player until just one year ago. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, visiting the casino and bowling in her younger years. Annie shopped all year long for prizes for her annual bingo party for her grandchildren and their friends. She also made elegant Christmas stockings for her family, many friends and neighbors. She was known to her grandchildren as Little Grandma/Little Nana because she was only 4’11’’. 

 

Annie cherished her family most of all and she was truly loved by her family and everyone that knew her. She will be long remembered for her sweet, spunky ways and fun-loving sense of humor. 

 

Friends will be received 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Rev. James Richardson 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2024, at St. Philip Catholic Church. Committal and entombment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow.
