Archie Caraway, age 85, of Battle Creek, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, June 5, 2016 at the Oaks of Northpointe Woods. He was born in Dayton, Tennessee on August 23, 1930, the son of Amos and Lula (Dotson) Caraway. He retired from Wilbert Vault Company in 2001 after more than 30 years of service.
Archie married the "Love of His Life" Margie Ellen Hall on April 15, 1951; she sadly preceded him in death on May 4, 2014 after more than 63 wonderful years together. He is survived by his children, Charlotte (David) Neve, Vicki (Greg) Buck, Rob Caraway, and Rick Caraway; his grandchildren, Brandon (Beth) Buck, Jessica (Pete) Staib, Jared Buck, Nathan Caraway, Cameron (Kristen) Buck, and Allison (Jonathon) Barnes, and 9 great-grandchildren. Archie was also preceded in death by his parents; a grandson Matthew Neve; a brother, Virgil Caraway, and a sister, Evelyn Ballard.
A devoted family man and true man of God, Archie served as a lay minister, preaching at many Pentecostal churches throughout the area. He enjoyed tinkering with cars, bartering, fishing (especially on the Tennessee River), and loved spending time with his family. Many heartfelt thanks to Archie's special family at the Oaks (staff and residents).
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 8th from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home where funeral services to celebrate Archie's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Patient Activity Fund at the Oaks of Northpointe Woods. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
