Arlene D. Gates

Arlene D. Gates, age 85, of Richland passed away Friday, February 4, 2022. She was born in Plainwell, Michigan on March 3, 1936 and graduated from Plainwell Schools with the Class of 1954.

On April 18, 1957, Arlene married Robert W. Gates; he sadly preceded her in death on September 25, 2003. She is survived by her children, Gary Gates of Richland, Laura (Larry) Bowen of Richland, Linda (Randall) Ross of Richland, Mark (Jennifer) Gates of Oshtemo, and Tim Gates of Decatur; grandchildren, Jason Bowen, Lisa (Abdulla) Al-fehaid, John Bowen, Jackson Gates and Mia Gates; a great-granddaughter, Daphne Al-fehaid; and a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Willcutt. She was also preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Carl, Clarence, Roy and Art Kraft.

Arlene was a member of the Inter-Lakes Baptist Church. She was an avid reader & Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed fishing, puzzles & crossword puzzles, word searches, collecting lighthouses & Christian crosses, gardening & planting flowers, and of course, spending time with her family.

Arlene's family will receive friends 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 9th at the Hickory Corners Bible Church, 13720 Kellogg School Rd, Hickory Corners, MI 49060 where funeral services to celebrate Arlene's life will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Worden, officiating. Interment will follow at East Hickory Corners Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to the church would be appreciated.
