Arnold Earl "Arnie" Burch

Arnold E. Burch, 83 of Athens died at his residence on Saturday, July 27, 2013.
Arnold was born July 8, 1930 in Battle Creek to Earl Burdette and Bernice Lillian (McLeod) Burch. He grew up in Battle Creek, was a 1948 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and attended Olivet College. He served with the U.S. Army in Fairbanks, Alaska during the Korean Conflict. In 1982, Arnold retired from Norman's Inc. Previously he worked for International Printing Ink and Corning Glass Company.
Arnold "Arnie" married Janet Latta on January 19, 1952 at the Free Methodist Church in Battle Creek. Surviving are his wife, Janet; children, Steven Arnold Burch of Fairfax, VA, Cheryl Yvonne "Cheri" (Kevin) Barker of Kearney, NE, Douglas Bruce (Linda) Burch of Chattanooga, TN and Shawna Michele (Don) McKenzie of Plymouth, MI; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Caroline (DuWayne) Gulley of Battle Creek, Earlene Zuschnitt of Adrian; and a brother-in-law, Morris Cole. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Joyce Burch and Louise Cole and a brother-in-law, Roger Zuschnitt.
Arnie was a member of the First Wesleyan Church, where he worked with the Food Bank. He was a former minister of music at the Free Methodist Church. Arnold loved music and was a Tenor with the Harbor Lights Quartet.
Friends will be received 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at First Wesleyan Church 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2013 preceded by a viewing at 10:00 a.m.. Military honors and inurnment will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery on July 8, 2014.
