Arvil Dee "Jonesy" Jones

Arvil Dee "Jonesy" Jones, Jr., 82, of Augusta went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, July 28, 2014, at home, in the loving care of his family.

Arvil was born May 27, 1932, the son of Arvil and Ethel (Ford) Jones in Marmaduke, Arkansas. Arvil was the eldest of two children. Arvil moved to Michigan in 1949, at the age of 17, where he worked for GM in Flint; the VA Hospital in Battle Creek; and Garrett Brothers Construction in Augusta. In 1975, Arvil worked at Galesburg-Augusta Schools as a maintenance man, until his first retirement in 1995. After retirement, he worked at the Family Health Center of Battle Creek in housekeeping until August 2011.

Arvil was very active in his church, Bible Baptist Church in Augusta. He loved his cars, working on his house, and keeping busy. His weekend consisted of taking any family members or family dogs to look at new cars at the dealership. Arvil will be remembered by his family as always being there when they needed him, his love for all people, and his strong work ethic that was ingrained into his children and grandchildren.

Arvil married Anna M. Garrett on August 27, 1954 at the chapel in Angola, IN. They were married 59 years. Arvil is survived by his wife, Anna; and children; Jerry Couch of Augusta, Jeff (Haley) Jones of Augusta, Dr. A.J. (Kay) Jones of Battle Creek and Tammy Hallmark of Augusta. He is also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Nick (Stefanie) Jones of Mattawan, MI, Heather (Todd) Kidder of Battle Creek, Dr. Ashley Jones of Kalamazoo and Lindsay Jones of Battle Creek: and great-granddaughter, Ellie Jones of Mattawan, MI; Arvil is also survived by a sister, Glenda (Russell) Williams of Corcoran, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Scotty Allen Jones and grandson, Ben Jones.

Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Bible Baptist Church in Augusta. Memorial services will be officiated by Pastor Don Ibbotson at the church 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014.
