Barbara Ellen (Lafountain) Johnson

Barbara Ellen Johnson, 82, of Augusta, MI, died Monday afternoon, February 4, 2013 at the Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She was born in Orangeville, Michigan on February 26, 1930 the daughter of Dennis and Eva (Reed) LaFountain. Barbara worked for more than 30 years as a Dietary Supervisor at various nursing and adult foster care homes, retiring in 2001. She enjoyed playing cards & doing word searches and loved spending time with her family.

Barbara married William C. Johnson in Marshall, Michigan on August 30, 1947; he sadly preceded her in death on December 16, 1988. She is survived by her daughters, Diane (The late Berl) Simmons of Delton and Judith (Thomas) Bennett of Paw Paw; a son, Jerald (Misty) Johnson of Galesburg; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and a sister, Debra (Mel) Bryan. Barbara was also preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers, Harold, Reuben and Lyle LaFountain.

At the request of the family, a memorial gathering to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the Pride of Scotts Community Center, 8450 S. 36th Street, Scotts, MI 49088.
