Barbara J. Palmer

December 23, 1934 — June 13, 2023

Battle Creek

On Tuesday June 13th Barbara Jean Palmer passed away peacefully at Oaklawn Hospice in Marshall, Michigan.  Barbara was born December 23, 1934 to Clarice “Josephine” and Joseph Yunker in Sturgis, Michigan.

Barbara was always a hard worker and usually held several part time jobs while working  in school cafeterias for the Battle Creek Public School System from where she retired. She loved dancing and attended dances around Battle Creek and Kalamazoo often. She enjoyed taking day trips with friends and family, whether it was to see the tulips in Holland or the changing autumn colors up north. To her, the sights along the journey were just as important as the destination. Whether she was traveling to California to visit her daughter or to New Orleans to embark on a Caribbean cruise, the train was her choice of travel because she could admire the scenery along the way.  Everyone who knew her will always have a special memory of something she did for them or did that makes them smile and laugh.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her only brother William “Billy” Yunker, and her former husband William “Bill” Palmer.  She is survived by her daughter Donna Wren and children Mariah, Barrett, John (Ashley), and Christopher; sons Barry (Christi) Palmer and children Shelby, Maci (Kyle), Kyle, and Chad; and Brad (Sherry) Palmer and children Bradleigh, Holden, and Hayden.

Donations can be made to Battle Creek Meals on Wheels or Oaklawn Hospice, both of which were very much appreciated by Barbara and her family.  Arrangements by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care.  Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com
