Barbara Jean (Hainline-Beech) Szczesney

Barbara Jean Szczesney, 83, of Battle Creek, died Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Bronson Battle Creek.

She was born September 10, 1932 in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Ralph and Margaret E. (Beach) Hainline. Her mother was remarried to Fred Beech. Barbara was preceded in death by all of her parents.

Barbara married John F. Szczesney on October 6, 1963. Sadly he preceded her in death on July 5, 1990. Also preceding her in death were her children, Michael Baker, Anna DeVries and Valentine Szczesney; and a sister, Carol Lane. Surviving are her children, Shari Cardosa and Johnny Brookhouse; a granddaughter, Cheryl Lahn of Battle Creek; a great grandson, Brian DePlanche; a sister, Jeanita "Jeep" (Bob) Hegner of Battle Creek and a brother, Jim (Denise) Beech of Battle Creek.

She was employed in the Dietary Department at the former Battle Creek Health System serving and assisting patients with their meals.

A memorial service to celebrate Barbara's life will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Fort Custer National Cemetery, where Barbara will be placed next to her husband.
