Deacon B.C. Page of Battle Creek, MI
B.C., went home to be with the Lord Friday evening, September 23, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. B.C. was 98 years old.
B.C. the son of Zeb and Addie Lee (Loving ) Page was born in Marvel, Arkansas on September 27, 1917. He moved to Battle Creek, Ml in 1956.
He served his country nobly as a Tec 5 in World War II for the U.S. Army. B.C. received the Victory medal; American Theater ribbon; European, African and Middle Eastern Theater ribbons with 2 Bronze Battle Stars; one Overseas Service Bar; Good Conduct medal and the Army of Occupation medal-Germany.
B.C. retired from V.A. Hospital after 23 years of service, where he worked as Supervisor in Custodial Service. He was also an entrepreneur with his sons in lawn care service.
B.C. loved gardening, raising chickens, riding his bike and riding his red moped.
B.C. was a founding member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, which he loved and was totally committed to. He served as Chairman of the Deacon Board for many years. After becoming ill, he was an honorary Deacon until his death.
Surviving are his children, Sylvia Page, Quedellis Green (Lurma), Jacqueline Page-Bynum, Bernard Page (Venessa), Brady Page, Janice Chapman, and Jeannette Page, all of Battle Creek; sisters, Pecolia Skelton and Freddie B, Nash (Robert), both of Battle Creek, Ml. He had 17 Grandchildren and a host of great grand and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His special grand daughter, Anisha Page, who cared for him during his illness until his death, his special friend and companion, Bernice Hinds and his God Daughter, Gamila Williams.
B.C. was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Mae (Davis) Page; daughters, Ollie Bee and Essie Lee Green; his son Benjamin Page; 9 brothers and his parents.
The Homegoing Celebration for B.C. will be held on Thursday, September 29th at Noon at the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 638 W. Van Buren Street, Battle Creek, MI 49017, with Rev. Timothy P. Troxler, Pastor, officiating. A Wake will be held on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until Noon at the Church. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI with full military honors bestowed by the United States Army Honor Guard and the Fort Custer Honor Guard. Memorial contributions in B.C. 's honor may be directed to the Church.
