Beatrice "Bea" Lucille Miller of Kalamazoo, MI














Bea, age 72, passed away on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2014 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence of Kalamazoo and was surrounded by her loving family.


Bea, the daughter of Carl and Emma (Schwalm) Marotzke, was born on January 28, 1942 in Burton Township of Genesee County, MI and she attended Handy High School of Bay City. She was employed at the Kalamazoo Gazette in the Circulation Department and retired as a Clerk for the State Rexall Drug Store. Bea volunteered many years for the Act Team of Kalamazoo by providing Christmas goodies and treats. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, baking, cooking, reading, camping and boating, but her true passion in life was "spoiling" her grandchildren.


Bea was united in marriage to Daniel J. Miller on August 28, 1978 in Kalamazoo. Surviving is her husband of 35 years, Dan; her two daughters, Jodi L. (Cliff) Clark of Richland, MI and Holly L. Mulligan of Lansing, MI; two sons, Michael A. Johnson, Jr. of Clinton, TN and Mark J. (Michelle) Johnson of Kalamazoo; her four precious grandchildren, Josh and Tony Clark, Elizabeth Johnson and Tyler Barnes; her brother, Dick Marotzke of Bay City and many nieces, nephews and friends including the Randall Family.


The Funeral Service to celebrate Bea's life will be held on Monday, February 17th at 12:30 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Richland Chapel, 9170 East D Avenue (M-89), where friends will be received from 11:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Family and friends will continue Bea's life celebration with a time of fellowship and a luncheon at the Richland Township Hall, 7401 North 32nd Street, immediately following the service. The Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, February 19th at 10:00 a.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bea's honor may be directed to the Rose Arbor Hospice Residence, 5473 Croyden Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI 49009.
