Bertha Stockham

Bertha Stockham, 105, of Battle Creek, died July 25, 2022. Bertha was born January 18, 1917 in Glad Valley, S.D. to Johannes and Katharine (Klooz) Janz. Bertha worked for the Kellogg Company for 22 years, before retiring in 1979. Bertha enjoyed golfing, playing cards, bingo and anything social. She also loved to square, round and line dance with her husband and friends. She especially cherished spending time with her family including her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bertha is survived by three daughters, Jacqueline Cravens, Diane Chopp and Sharon Crowell; a son, Thomas Opp; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert Opp; her second husband, Richard Stockham; a son, Ronald Opp; six sisters, Emma, Ida, Martha, Pauline, Minnie and Alvina and a granddaughter, Tonya Hutchinson.

Funeral services to celebrate Bertha's life will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 1, 2022 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Interment will follow at Hicks Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, starting at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) or Crash's Landing Cat Rescue & Placement Center (www.crashslanding.org).
