Betty L. Bentley-Mann, age 89, of Battle Creek passed away Friday evening, May 12, 2017. She was born in Battle Creek on September 5, 1927, the daughter of Lawrence and Edna (Gay) Faulk, and graduated from Athens High School with the Class of 1944. Betty retired from Leila Hospital (now Bronson Battle Creek) after more than 33 years of faithful service.
Betty married Ralph Bentley on February 21, 1947. They were married for 20 years before he preceded her in death in December 31, 2007. Betty later married Robert F. "Bob" Mann on March 4, 1998; he preceded her in death on April 6, 2011. Surviving are her daughters, Betsy Quick, Vickie (Mike) Bouck, and Jill (Rick) Babas; stepson, Shane (Chrissy) Mann; step-daughters, Teresa (David) Vincent, Lee Ann (Leon) Pate, and Dee Ann (Mike) Lind; 12 grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 13 step-great grandchildren and three siblings, Darlene Randall, Larry Faulk and Ted Faulk. Betty was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Cindy (Gene) Burk; a step-great grandson, Tyler Joel Fox; a sister, Beverly Faulk and a sister-in-law, Pat Faulk.
Betty enjoyed collecting teddy bears & Betty Boop collectibles. She was an avid NASCAR & Detroit Tigers fan, and also enjoyed bowling, genealogy, travelling "Up North" in the Fall, and most of all, she loved spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren's events. She also loved her annual trips with friends. She was a member of the Leila Bowling Team, the VFW, Eagles Lodge and a 15-year member of the Women's Auxiliary.
A memorial service to celebrate Betty's life will be 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, officiated by Rev. Robert Zuhl. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, starting at 1:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Remember-A-Vet of American Diabetes Association.
