Betty Jane Nelson

Betty entered into her place in the Body of Christ January 14, 2021 after more than 102 years on this planet. She was born May 30,1918 in Olivet, Michigan in the home of her grandfather Doctor A.H. Burleson, to Silas K Burleson and Ruby Jane (Badger) Burleson. She graduated from Olivet High School in 1936. She married Frederick C. Nelson on June 17, 1937 at her parent's home, Spring Willow Farm, Eaton County, Michigan. Fred preceded her in death January 4, 1998
Betty was a mother, homemaker and farmer's wife, helping with the chores and harvest. She also worked at the Kellogg Company for a short time. She was involved with the women's missionary groups at Calvary Baptist Church of Battle Creek and most recently with the ladies of Prairie Baptist Church in Climax-Scotts.
Betty enjoyed making quilts and baby blankets, tending her flowers and yard. She was a caregiver for her mother and sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Esther Hart (Max) and Barbara Shelver (Melvin); and nephew Bruce Hart.
Surviving are daughter, Nancy Jane Patterson (Jack) of Croghan New York; sons, Michael C. Nelson (Ellen) of Brighton, Michigan, and Dennis A. Nelson (Caroline) of Olivet, Michigan and their families; eleven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and nephews, Barry Hart (Mary) of Lansing and Ben Hart, of Olivet.
A private family burial was held in Austin Cemetery, Convis Township, Michigan. Arrangements by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek.
