Beverly June (Nee Patton) Coleman

June 23, 1928 — January 1, 2023

Beverly June Coleman (nee Patton) passed away January 1, 2023, from complications related to shingles and advanced dementia. She was 94 years old.

Born in Battle Creek on June 23, 1928, to Hugh "Scotty" and Mildred Patton, she graduated from Battle Creek Senior High School in 1946. Soon thereafter she married Donald G. Coleman of Augusta, MI, and they had three children. Beverly often spoke fondly of her time working at Sullivan's Ice Cream Shop, at "the phone company," and selling Stanley Home Products in Battle Creek. She enjoyed roller dancing and playing bridge.

In 1971 the family resettled in Shaker Heights, Ohio, where Beverly was quite successful selling real estate. She had an enviable network of repeat clients and referrals across the country. She retired after Don passed away in 1992, and in 1994 Beverly moved to be closer to family in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. She spent hours tending to the family's private golf course, supporting the local high school cross-county team that ran there, and enjoying the wildlife that would visit her home in the woods. She travelled extensively in her 36' RV to visit family in Juneau, AK, and Los Angeles, CA, friends in Florida, The Biltmore in NC, and Yellowstone National Park.

Beverly returned to Battle Creek in October 2014, where she took up bridge again and was an avid gardener.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald, and sons William Coleman and Rick Coleman. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia A. Mellen (nee Coleman) of Denver, CO, daughter-in-law Mary Coleman (Rick) of Waukesha, WI, their daughter Alaine Coleman of Pleasant Prairie, WI, grandson John Coleman (Shelly Galles) of Glen Allen, VA, granddaughter Candace Coleman (Chad Berdahl) of Minneapolis, MN, nephew Jerry Coleman (Kimberly) of Battle Creek, MI, nephew Randy Coleman (Lisa Lindeman) of Juneau, AK, and other extended family.
