Beverly Ann "Bev" Laitila, age 71, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Bronson Battle Creek. She was born in Coldwater, Michigan on May 5, 1947, the daughter of Milford L. and Arla M. (Palmatier) Stockwell. Bev graduated from Battle Creek Central High School with the Class of 1965 and furthered her education at Kellogg Community College. She retired from the Kellogg Company in 2008 after more than 25 years of service.
Bev is survived by her children, Kimberly (Jose Miguel) de Sanchez of Kentucky, Kari (Tim) Castleberry of Battle Creek, and Thom (Andrea) West of Bellevue; her grandchildren, Sage & Maya Castleberry, Ashley (Adam) Peck, and Emily St. John; great-grandchildren, Iris, Adaline and Pierson James; her step-mother, Mary Stockwell; her sister, Karen Snell; her brother, Mark (Tami) Stockwell; and her former-husband & friend, Thomas C. West. She was preceded in death by her twin daughters, Kathryn & Kasandra West; her mother, Arla Stainoff; her father, Mel Stockwell; and her brother, Marty Stockwell.
Bev truly had a servants heart and was an active member of the Battle Creek Friends Church where she served in many different areas, and also volunteered with the Women's Life Recovery Program at the Haven of Rest. She was also a member of the Kellogg 25-Year Club, and enjoyed all things Arts & Crafts, traveling, the outdoors & her times at Gun Lake, her "dogs" & "Grand-dogs", and spending time with her family and friends.
The family will receive friends 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, November 25th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Funeral services to celebrate Bev's life will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 26th at Battle Creek Friends Church, 1305 Olive Street, Battle Creek with Rev. John Grafton and Rev. Kelly Hadlich, officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Women's Life Recovery Program at the Haven of Rest.
