Beverly Mackie

Beverly "Bev" Mackie passed away peacefully on August 24, 2022. She was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin on August 3, 1932, the daughter of Ann and Frank Zar. She graduated from Ashland High School.

She was a devoted mother to her children and a loving wife. She received a Masters Degree from Western Michigan University. She previously worked as a counselor at WK Kellogg Junior High school and was a Job Placement Coordinator at the Battle Creek Vo-Ed Center. Bev married the love of her life Tom Mackie, they were married 68 years. He passed away December 12, 2021. Bev enjoyed tennis, traveling, cooking and dancing but her favorite thing was spending time with her family. She was especially devoted to her grandchildren. She was genuinely interested in people, willing to help anyone out, quick to laugh and enjoyed life to the end.

She is survived by her daughters Ann Marie (Mike) Renaud and Diane Mackie of Marshall and a son Tom (Denise) Mackie Jr. of Battle Creek: three grandchildren, Josie (Tony) Bartolacci, Bryce and Blake Mackie and 2 precious great grandchildren, Joe and Ainsley Bartolacci. Bev was preceded in death by her brothers, Jim, Gene and Ronald Zar.

A small, private service will be held at a later date at Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be to the American Cancer Society or the Battle Creek Humane Society. Arrangements by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek.
