Beverly Chloe (Herrick) Metcalf of Battle Creek, MI




Beverly, age 89, died Tuesday evening, February 24, 2015 at the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility, Battle Creek.


Beverly, the daughter of Jasper and Lura (Sheldon) Herrick, was born on August 2, 1925 in Battle Creek, MI and was a lifetime area resident. She had been a medical secretary at Percy Jones Hospital, the Adventist Hospital and Dr. Caviness' Office. Beverly was a member of the Battle Creek Seventh Day Adventist Tabernacle and had taught children's classes at the Tabernacle. She was avid with her craft making and also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and needlepoint, but her true passion in life was always her family.


Beverly was united in marriage to Raymond O. "Ray" Metcalf on September 17, 1946 in Battle Creek and he sadly preceded her in death on May 28, 2004. Surviving are two sons, Larry (Pam) Metcalf and Ron (Bonnie) Metcalf, both of Battle Creek; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; her sister, Jeanette Wildman of Almonte Springs, FL and her brother –in-law, David Wrate of Battle Creek. Beverly was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Audrey Wrate, eight days before her death.


The Memorial Service to celebrate Beverly's life will be held on Saturday, March 21st at 4:00 p.m. at the Battle Creek Seventh Day Adventist Tabernacle, 19 North Washington Avenue, Battle Creek, with Rev. Bruce Moore, her nephew, officiating. A light supper will immediately follow the Memorial Service at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Beverly's honor may be directed to the Battle Creek Academy, 480 Parkway Drive, Battle Creek, MI 49037. The Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek is in charge of the arrangements.
