Billie Jo (Spangler) Williams of Battle Creek, MI
Billie, age 86, died Monday morning, October 8, 2018 at Community Care of Battle Creek following a lengthy illness.
Billie, the daughter of Bill and Josephine (Barksdale) Spangler was born in San Antonio, TX on February 4, 1932 and moved to this area in 1976. She had been an active member of Calvary Baptist Church of Battle Creek and a former Avon Lady. Billie enjoyed sewing, working in her garden and collected cookbooks, even doing some of the recipes.
Billie was united in marriage to Claude L. Williams in San Antonio on June 7, 1955. Surviving is her husband of 63 years, Claude; two sons, Michael L. Williams and Rick L. (Teresa) Williams, both of Battle Creek; three precious grandsons, Rick M. Williams, Josh T. Williams and Tyler C. Williams; two great grandchildren, Sage T. Williams and Jade K. Williams and her brother, Walter (Beth) Spangler of Elgin, TX. Billie was preceded in death by her parents.
Billie's family will greet friends on Wednesday, October 10th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek. The Funeral Service to celebrate Billie's life will be held on Thursday, October 11th at 2:00 p.m.at the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas C. Townsend, Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Billie's honor may be directed to the Calvary Baptist Church, 1625 Capital Avenue, NE, Battle Creek, MI 49017 or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 4595 Broadmoor Avenue, SE, Grand Rapids, M I 49512.
