Bonnie B. (Sims) Holcombe

Bonnie B. Holcombe, 88 of Battle Creek, Michigan went to join her husband, Teddy, family and her Lord on Monday, September 26, 2022.

Bonnie was born May 22, 1934 in Sage, Arkansas to Lillian Sims. Bonnie grew up in Arkansas until she came to Battle Creek to marry her childhood sweetheart, Teddy Holcombe. She owned and operated a dog grooming business which her daughter, Jill Coss, took over.

Bonnie Sims was united in marriage to Teddy Roy Holcombe on October 21, 1952. Surviving her are two daughters, Jackie (Gary) Gillings of Gaylord, Linda "Jill" (Ron) Coss of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Evan (Britni) Coss and Cory Coss both of California; a great grandson, Hendrix Coss; a brother Carl "Chick" (Debbie) Stansberry of Arkansas; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Tom) Hacker of Battle Creek, Grace (Tim) Morello of Texas; and other nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband after 69 years of marriage, and also her mother and a brother, Robert Stansberry.

Bonnie loved cooking her family's favorite dishes and especially making cookies for her grandchildren's sports teams. She was always in the stands rooting them on and was known by many as "Granny". During the summers she would garage sale shop for dolls, clean them, sew them new clothes and then donate them to shelters. She also sewed many winter hats and scarves for family and shelters. She spent numerous hours on her computer making picture albums for the family and researching her genealogy. Bonnie volunteered for many years at the Humane Society. Bonnie's favorite vacations included going to Las Vegas, which she considered her "happy spot".

A graveside service to celebrate Bonnie's life will be officiated by Rev. Karl Tracy at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2022.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan, 2500 Watkins Road, Battle Creek, MI 49015.
