Brenda Sue Leeser, age 72, of Richmond, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on December 12, 2025.
Brenda was born in Battle Creek, Michigan to Gaines and Eleanor (West) Cope. Brenda grew up in the Battle Creek area and graduated from Pennfield High School in 1971. She attended Freed Hardeman College and Kellogg Community College where she received her Registered Nurse accreditation. She married Steven Leeser on June 18, 1977. She and Steven had three children: Andrew, Shawna and Brandon. They made their home in Battle Creek, Okemos and Jenison/Hudsonville before moving to Richmond, Texas nine years ago.
She worked as a pediatric home healthcare nurse, serving with compassion, patience, and a servant’s heart. She traveled with her patients and their families to Orlando as part of the Make a Wish Program. Her calling to care for people extended far beyond her profession and was evident in the way she loved everyone around her.
Over the years, Brenda was an active member at the 20th St Church of Christ, The Holmes Road Church of Christ (Lansing), The Grandville Church of Christ and First Colony Church of Christ (Sugarland, TX). A woman of strong and unwavering faith, Brenda loved her family fiercely and selflessly, always thinking of others before herself. For the last 20 years, she courageously lived with primary progressive multiple sclerosis, enduring her suffering with remarkable grace. Through it all, she never complained, choosing instead faith, strength, and trust in the Lord.
She is survived by her loving husband, Steven Leeser; her children, Andrew Leeser and his wife Erin, and their children Lincoln, Lawson, and Bauer; Shawna Tucker and her husband Will, and their children Gaines, Ana, Layla, Tripp, and Tru; and Brandon Leeser and his wife Erika, and their son Anthony. She is also survived by her mother, Eleanor Cope; her sisters, Pat Parrot and her husband Dan, and Debbie Vargas and her husband Paul; and her brother, Mike Cope and his wife Kathy.
Brenda will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her servant’s heart, and her steadfast faith. While her family mourns her passing, they find peace and hope in knowing she is now healed, whole, and resting in the presence of her Savior.
