Brenda Lou "Mammy" Riter

Brenda Lou "Mammy" Riter, age 55, of Battle Creek sadly passed away on December 21, 2013. She was born in Natchez, Mississippi on July 25, 1958, the loving daughter of Edward and Ginger (Martin) Sanders. Brenda faithfully served with the Head Start Program for many years.

Brenda is survived by her children, Charles "Chuckie" Waters of Battle Creek, William Riter of Battle Creek, Mindy Riter of Marshall and Eva Riter of Battle Creek; her grandchildren, Jazmine Riter, Hailey Neely, Rylee Myers, Ryker Myers, Ricardo Vanpelt and Jospeh Jones; her devoted boyfriend, Donald Tripp of Battle Creek; her brothers, Jerry (Donnette) Sanders, Eddie Sanders, Chad Sanders and Bennit (Lacyea) Guilbeaux, all of Louisiana, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dayton Riter in 1992.

Brenda enjoyed all types of arts & crafts, knitting and puzzles. She truly loved spending time with her family, but most especially her grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where a memorial service to celebrate Brenda's life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday.
