Clarence "Wayne" Neil, 74, of Battle Creek went to be with the Lord unexpectedly due to cancer complications at Bronson Battle Creek on Sunday, August 5, 2018.
Wayne was born December 19, 1943 in Monroe, Michigan, the son of Neldon R. and Dorothea Alice (Stafford) Neil. He was a 1963 graduate of Springfield High School. Wayne first worked briefly for Grand Trunk Western Railroad, then was employed at Eaton Corporation, retiring when it closed. In 1978, he then joined his father at Neil's Heating & Cooling, which Wayne was currently operating.
Wayne was united in marriage to Loretta Lee Gould on March 19, 1976 at Family Altar Chapel. Surviving are his wife, Loretta; three daughters, Joél (Bill) Hendrickson of Lake Mary, FL, Naomi (Harry) Plushnik and Christina (Walter) Williams, both of Battle Creek; a son, Matthew (Neidy) Carr of Jacksonville, FL; five grandchildren, Celeste, Christopher, Olivia, Pandora, Kyle; a sister, Betty Jean (Paul) Brannan of Branson West, MO; a brother, Douglas (Susan) Neil of Hendersonville, NC and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and their families. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Douglas Hall; and father and mother-in-law, Gaylord and Esther Gould.
Wayne attended First Assembly of God. He was always working and always helping others. He never met a stranger and had a great sense of humor. He will be remembered as generous and willing to help anyone. He truly had a servant's heart.
Friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018 at First Assembly of God, where services to celebrate Wayne's life will follow at 2:00 p.m. Dress will be casual. A committal service for Wayne's family was held at West Pennfield Hicks Cemetery.
