Carol Ann (Wrench) Healy of Kalamazoo, MI and formerly of Richland, MI
A loving Wife and Mother, Carol, age 82, died Tuesday afternoon, November 15, 2106 at Borgess Gardens, Kalamazoo after a courageous 4-month battle with cancer.
Carol, the daughter of Alfred and Isabelle (Sauve) Wrench, was born in Kalamazoo on October 21, 1934 and was a lifetime area resident. She was a 1927 graduate of St. Augustine High School and attended Western Michigan College receiving a Secretarial Associate Degree. Carol retired in 1998 after many years of faithful service in Customer Service for the Richard Allen Medical Industries of Richland. After retirement, she did volunteer work at Borgess Medical Center as a "Purple Coat" in the Gift Shop. She was an active member of St. Ann Catholic Church and was in the choir for many years.
Carol's love for music started at an early age. She would sing for weddings while accompanied by her mom, Isabelle. Carol participated in musicals while at Western Michigan and sang with many Big Bands in the Kalamazoo area. She performed for years in the Borgess Follies, Six Carrot Cabaret, Civic Theater and some local Richland Productions. One of her "Proudest Moments" was singing for over 20 years in the annual 4th of July Richland Parade.
Carol married the "Love of her Life," Roy William Healy at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Kalamazoo on June 13, 1959 and he sadly preceded her in death on July 6th of this year. Surviving are two daughters, Deborah R. "Debbie" (Paul) Punnett of Richland and Cynthia M. "Cindy" Healy of Taylor, TX; her son, Daniel P. "Dan" (Amanda Sanders) Healy of Louisville, KY; her grandson, Eric A. Punnett and her brother, Wallace J. "Wally" (Millie) Wrench of Kalamazoo. Carol was also preceded in death by her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 16th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 12648 East D Avenue, Augusta, MI 49012, with Father John D. Fleckenstein, Celebrant and Deacon Michael A. Carl, Assisting. Interment will follow next to her beloved husband, Coach Roy at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta. The Parish Rosary will be recited on Thursday, December 15th at 7:00 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Carol's honor may be directed to Richland Relay for Life, c/o Vito Valella, 9478 Treetop Drive, Galesburg, MI 49053. The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel (269-629-6022) is assisting Carol's family with her arrangements.
