Carole A. Johnson, 79, of Galesburg, died July 5, 2023. Carole was born March 4, 1944 in Portland, ME to Douglas and Mary (O’Toole) McBride. She worked for many years at Michigan Bell Telephone Company, steadily moving up the ranks until she retired as an engineer. She enjoyed reading books and doing crossword puzzles. She was a member and former secretary of the Augusta VFW Post #7596.

Carole is survived by her son, Sean (Dawn) Johnson; three siblings, Maureen (Larry) DuBose, John (Susan) McBride and Margaret (John) Leasure and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two siblings, Patty and Michael McBride and her partner, Ellsworth Crandall.

A funeral service to celebrate Carole’s life will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 15, 2023 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel, officiated by Rev. Dennis Smith. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Galesburg.
