Carolyn R. Spedden

Carolyn Ruth Spedden, 73, of Battle Creek, MI made an unexpected departure to Heaven January 17, 2017. Carolyn was a devoted Wife, Mother, Ma, Mom-Mom, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was preceded in death by her mother and father William and Lillian VanWuffen. Carolyn is survived by her husband of 53 years, David Wilson Spedden; her son Michael Spedden of Satsuma, Fl.; her son and daughter-in-law David and Tammy Spedden of San Mateo, Fl; her five grandchildren, Chelsi Spedden, Amber, Ashley, Austin and Ayden Spedden; her Step-Mother, Francis VanWuffen, 95, of Battle Creek, MI; sister and brother-in-law, Jean & Bill Belcher of Westland, MI; brother and sister-in-law, Norm and Marty VanWuffen of Byron Center, MI; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Carolyn was a Godly, selfless woman who lived sacrificially and loved deeply. Her family was her world. She devoted her life to the service of others and gave of herself, at times, to her own detriment. Anyone who knew her would confirm that she was a fervent prayer warrior and lover of Jesus Christ above all else. She served Him faithfully and consistently throughout her life in any capacity she could. She modeled a life of fearless faith, commitment, devotion, diligence, passion and was an amazing example of inward and outward beauty and strength. Carolyn fought the good fight! She finished her race and finished it well. Having now entered into eternity with her Savior, she has joined the Host of Heaven and will eternally lift her sweet, pure, angelic voice to sing praises, and worship around the throne of The One she loved the most! The world has lost a warrior. Carolyn was deeply loved and cherished by all of her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:30 am, Saturday, January 21, at Battle Creek Bible Church, where she attended. Arrangements are being made by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek, MI.
