Carolyn Jane Warner, 83, of Battle Creek, quietly passed away in her sleep on Sunday, January 5th at Evergreen Senior Care and Rehab Center in Springfield, MI. She had been battling Alzheimer's disease for several years.
Carolyn, the daughter of Maurice L McManus and Jean A. Wollpert, was born in South Bend, Indiana on February 5, 1936. She moved with her family to Battle Creek after World War II. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1954 and earned an associate's degree at Central Michigan College in 1957. After college, she worked at Kellogg's in the accounting department. After having children, she was a stay at home mom where she was very involved in her children's schools and also cub scouts and girl scouts.
She met her future husband, Norman J. Warner, on the links at Marywood Country Club and they married on March 18, 1967 at First Presbyterian Church in Battle Creek. They enjoyed golfing together and playing cards with friends. She was a passionate golfer and a long-time member of Marywood Country Club and Bedford Valley Golf Club and loved being on the links with her friends. She spent several winters in Florida enjoying the warm weather and golf. When not golfing, Carolyn enjoyed being outside and making sure her yard was pristine. She also loved traveling both inside and outside of the United States and taking in the amazing scenery. If there was a babbling brook close by, she would find it and enjoy the peacefulness. She enjoyed going on hiking trips to Isle Royale and the east coast. She was also a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her two children, Mark D. Warner of Chicago, Illinois and Karen (Victor) Prince and one granddaughter, Dylan Grace of Battle Creek, Michigan.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Norman J. Warner, parents Maurice and Jean McManus and her sister, Joan Bibbings of Marshall, Michigan.
Carolyn's family will receive friends from 4-7pm Friday, January 10th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care.
A funeral service to Celebrate Carolyn's life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the funeral home with Rev. Patricia Weatherwax officiating. A luncheon and a time of fellowship will be held after the funeral at First Presbyterian Church.
