Catherine P. Gordier

Catherine P. Gordier, 86, of Battle Creek, died on January 3, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born June 2, 1928 in Nashville, TN the daughter of Ernest and Hazel (Sawyer) Staggs. Catherine was a homemaker for her family, but had worked outside of the home, one of which was with her husband in Gordier Construction.
On July 25 1947 Catherine P. Staggs was united in marriage to Roy Martin Gordier Jr. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, she was preceded by her husband of 61 years in 2008.
Catherine is survived by her daughter, Cathy (Philip) Hayes of Battle Creek; four sons, Joseph M. of Grand Haven, Roy M. (Debbie) of Battle Creek, John R. of Empire, CA, Mark A. (Angela) Gordier of Battle Creek; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and a brother, Marvin McLean, Deltona, FL
Catherine and her husband, Roy were members of St. Philip Catholic Church, she loved spending time with and cooking for her grandchildren, going for long rides with husband and family, shopping and she had a gifted hand with home decorating.
The family will receive family and friends from 6-8:00 pm Wednesday, January 07, 2015 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, January 08, 2015 at the funeral home with Fr. Francis A. Marotti officiating. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Haven of Rest, 11 Green St., Battle Creek, MI.
