Cathy Dom Marske

July 14, 1947 — July 21, 2021

Cathy Dom Marske, beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt, and friend, died peacefully, July 21, 2021 at Glenn Arbor Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan in Battle Creek.

Cathy was born July 14, 1947 in Battle Creek, daughter of Domenic and Charlotte Zanotti. She attended St. Joseph Elementary, BCPS, and graduated from Lakeview High School in 1965. Following high school, she attended Kellogg Community College, while working at Emmerson's Pharmacy in the Lakeview business district and Transamerica Insurance.

On February 26, 1972, she married her life long love, Timothy A Marske at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Battle Creek. She and Tim lived for a short time in Newport News, Virginia while Tim served in the US Army. It was in Newport News that her treasured son, Matthew Bryon, was born. After Tim's service, Tim, Cathy, and Matt moved back to Battle Creek where they have since resided.

God's plan for Cathy, from the beginning, was to work with people—to make others feel good about being alive—to make others laugh out loud with as much gusto as she herself laughed. Her mission was to hug others with her words, to hug others with her heart. She followed God's plan by working in child daycare, as a teller at both Mutual Savings and Loan and Kellogg Community Federal Credit Union, in emergency room admitting at Battle Creek Health Systems, and at Northpointe Woods where the glory of her laughter and love brought laughter and love in return.

Cathy is survived by Tim, her husband of 49 years, her son Matt (Kelli Grenfell) Marske of BC, her most cherished grandchildren Megan Riane and Kyle Steven Marske, both of BC, and her precious kitty, Boo. Also surviving are her sisters, Karen Lee (Richie) Barnes of St Joseph Mi and Naples Fl, and Lois Rae (Peter) Werner of BC. Other dearest survivors are nephew Tony (Jodi) Barnes of St Joe, nieces Sara Barnes of Chicago and Jaimee (DJ) Grimm of BC, great nieces Ashley Barnes of South Carolina, Makenzee and Mylee Grimm of BC, and great nephew Anthony "abar" Barnes of South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents, Domenic and Charlotte Zanotti.

Services to celebrate Cathy's life will be held 3:00 p.m., Thursday, August 19th at Fort Custer National Cemetery with her cousin, Reverend James Gysel, as celebrant. The service was recorded and may be viewed at https://vimeo.com/590243408. A gathering of friends will be held at Miller's Time Out (13260 S Helmer Rd) following the ceremony. Memorial contributions may be made to CS Mott Children's Hospital, 1540 E. Hospital Drive, Ann Arbor MI 48109 or to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan. Arrangements by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care.
