Charles A. Crafts

Charles A. “Uncle Chuckie” Crafts, age 73, passed away Friday evening January 30, 2026. He was born in Battle Creek on November 1, 1952, the loving son of George and Myra (Westphal) Crafts and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School with the Class of 1971.

Chuck is survived by his sisters, Becky Burdette and Florence (Jack) Hayman; his special children, Jodi, Don, Rosalie, John (Susan), Mary, Monica, Susan and Frank; great-nieces & nephews; Rananah, Myra, Sarah, Brennen, Bo, Everett, and Charles; his great-great nieces & nephews, his beloved “Newman Clan” and his dog “Buddy”. He was sadly preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Debra Lou Crafts; a great-great nephew, Maverick Lee; and his beloved friends, Tom Pruitt and Lynn McGrew.

Chuck was a member of the Battle Creek Central Class of 1971 Reunion Committee, the UPGA Golf Association, Sons of the American Legion Squadron #298, and the retired Auto Workers Local #488.

Chuck was a University of Michigan season ticket hold for more than 30 years and was also an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, Red Wings, NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt Sr. He also truly enjoyed being on the golf course and spending time with his family and many friends. “Uncle Chuckie” will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family will receive friends 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday, February 9, 2026 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care where services to celebrate Chuck’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon).
