Charles "Charlie" Wayne Curry, 64, of Augusta, crossed over to the waiting arms of his loving wife Judy on Tuesday August 27, 2013. Charlie was born on December 8, 1948 in Hampton, Kentucky to William and Verda Curry.
At the young age of 17, Charlie began his lifelong career as a concrete finisher, first working with Titus Construction Company and then retiring from Duckworth Brothers. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Augusta-Ross Township Fire Department for 20 years. As a member of the V.F.W. 7956, Charlie enjoyed playing "Santa" for all the area children.
Charlie enjoyed Nascar racing and mushroom hunting, but most of all enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends.
Charlie married Judith "Judy" Ann Garrett on April 12, 1966. They lived happily together until her death on July 3, 1995. They were blessed with 2 daughters, Donnita (Randy) Milhollin of Three Rivers, MI and Melisia (Rick) Hopkins of Augusta, MI. Charlie is also survived by his three grandchildren, Garrett, Logan, and Taylor; brother, Johnny (Rose) Curry of Kalamazoo; his sister-in-law, Janey (Robert) Brown, and a special niece, Malana. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, William and Verdie; his loving wife, Judy; four sisters, Edith, Delia, Lizzie, Jean, and his four brothers, Junior, Frank, Lawrence, and Riley.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Augusta Chapel, 307 N. Webster, Augusta and also after 10am Friday until service time. Funeral services to celebrate Charlie's life will be held 1:30 p.m., Friday, August 30, 2013. Interment will follow at Augusta Cemetery. A continuation of Charlie's life celebration will immediately follow the interment at the Augusta V.F.W., 13450 W. M-96, Augusta.
