Charles G. "Charlie" "Chuck" Wait, 71, of Richland died at Borgess Medical Center on Monday, April 14, 2014.
Charlie was born March 3, 1943 on the family farm in Richland, MI to H. Gale and Clara (Demott) Wait. Charlie attended Yorkville Elementary and Gull Lake Community School. He lived in Richland most of his life. He was employed 37 years, prior to retiring in 2002, from the Battle Creek Air National Guard Base 110th Fighter Wing as Chief Master Sergeant.
Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline Kay (Whipple) Wait; a daughter, Michelle Wait of Covert; a son, Chuck Wait of Jacksonville, NC; two stepsons, David (Julie) Slone of Battle Creek and Rick (Ginger) Slone of Augusta; a stepdaughter, Shari (Slone) Gallagher of Battle Creek; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Charlie was formerly married to Beverly J. Moore and Peggy McNeil.
Charlie was the fuel superintendent for many years. He enjoyed anything outdoors, especially traveling, cutting and splitting wood, gardening, yard work, golfing and fishing. He spent a lot of time bargaining for goods at garage sales and antique markets. Charlie had many friends, especially his ANG buddies. Charlie was a wonderful husband and father.
Friends will be received 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home Augusta Chapel, 307 N. Webster St., Augusta, MI 49012.
Funeral services will be held at the Augusta Chapel 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2014. Interment and military honors will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
