Charles Arthur "Charlie" Hall, age 82, a lifelong Battle Creek resident died peacefully at his home, with his loving family at his side, on Thursday, January 3, 2019.
Charlie was born June 17, 1936 in Battle Creek the son of Thomas Clayton and Vivian Loraine (Stoddard) Hall. He grew up in Battle Creek and attended Battle Creek Public Schools. Charlie retired from the Battle Creek Post Office in 1992 after 33 years as a city letter carrier. From 1992-2002 he worked for LewAllen Electrical.
Charles Arthur Hall was united in marriage to Donna Lynn McCarthy on July 19, 1952 in Battle Creek. Surviving are Donna, his wife of 66 years; daughter, Sharon M. Abbey of Kalamazoo; two sons, Steven W. Hall and Michael P. (Lan) Hall both of Battle Creek; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Mellissa (Jamie) Lepird of Battle Creek, Lacy Wheeler of Battle Creek, Camden Hames of Kalamazoo, and Riley, Abigail, Adrian, Quinlan, Jaxon and Keston; brothers, Thomas G. (Jean) Hall, Joseph C. (Sandra) Hall all of Battle Creek; sister, Vivy Kay and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. Sadly, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles A. Hall, Jr. in 1968; and brothers, Gary O. Hall and Jacob Manz.
Charlie was a member of NALC National Association of Letter Carriers for 60 years. He attended Garrison Hills Wesleyan Church. Charlie enjoyed keeping a spotless yard and puttering around the house. He loved spending time with family and friends.
Friends will be received 5:00 â 7:00 p.m. Monday at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, where a funeral service to celebrate Charlie's life will be officiated by Rev. Rick Weesner 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2019. Committal and interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
