Charles Lewis “Charlie” Irvin, Jr., 87 of Battle Creek, Michigan died at Kairos Dwelling in Kalamazoo on Sunday, July 23, 2023.

Charlie was born November 14, 1935, in Willamsport, Pennsylvania to Charles Lewis and Laura (Stewart) Irvin, Sr. He grew up in Roseville, New York, where he attended school. Charlie honorably served his country in U.S. Army. He was employed as a paint repairman for Ford Motor Company in Wixsom, MI for 27 years and after retiring worked parttime for Hoosier RV Transport in Bristol, Indiana.

Charles Lewis Irvin, Jr. was united in marriage to Judith Lynne (Baker) Landon on July 12, 2008, in Battle Creek. Surviving are his wife, Judy; sons, Charles L. Irvin, III, James Irvin and John A. Irvin; a daughter, Debbie (Ken) O’Neil; two stepdaughters, Lisa (Mark Persons) White, Penny (Tim) Newland; a daughter-in-law, Melissa Irvin; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and two nieces. He was preceded in death by an infant son, John; a stepdaughter, Tabatha Glick; a former wife, Audrey Dawson Irvin; and a brother, Henry “Hank” Irvin.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Harrison, MI. Charlie enjoyed NASCAR racing, bowling, going to horse shows, watching the Detroit Tigers play and eating out with friends. He will be remembered as a very sociable, outgoing person and loved to visit with everyone.

A service to celebrate Charlie’s life will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2023.
