Charles Ernest "Charlie" Waychoff of Climax, MI

Charlie, age 84, died Sunday morning, December 31, 2017 at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo, MI, following a brief illness.

Charlie, the son of Paul E. and Virginia E. (Phillips) Waychoff, was born in Washington, PA on November 8, 1933 and moved to this area in the late 1980's. He served his Country honorably and nobly during the Korean War in the United States Marine Corps. He was a Private First Class with the 2nd Marine Division in Korea and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the Korean Service Medal. After the war, he served as a foreman for numerous constructions sites, mostly in Florida. Charlie was a member of the V.F. W. Post # 9610 of Lake Park, FL; was an avid fisherman and enjoyed watching football, anytime, anyplace!

Charlie is survived by his grandson, Charles (Adrian) Waychoff of Finleyville, PA; granddaughter, Sophie Waychoff of Washington, PA; great granddaughter, Lillian Waychoff of Finleyville, PA; daughter, Virginia and granddaughter, Jessica Rebolledo, both of Chicago, IL; a great granddaughter, Vanshika Kapoor; two sisters, Sara Jane Surface of Okeechobee, FL and Mickie Coy of Climax; two brothers, Robert (Rose) Waychoff of Allegan, MI and Lucky Waychoff of Battle Creek and numerous nieces and nephews. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Charles "Chucky" in 1985 and Robert in 2007 and his brother, Sonny in 1993.

The Graveside Service to celebrate Charlie's life will be held on Monday, July 16th at 11:30 a.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI with the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard and the Fort Custer Honor Guard bestowing full military honors. A luncheon will follow at his sister, Mickey's residence in Climax. The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek is assisting Charlie's family with his arrangements.
