Charles "Chuck" Woods

Charles Edward Woods, Sr., 76, of Battle Creek/Emmett Township passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 14^th, 2024.  He was born October 5, 1947 the son of Jennie and Paul Woods Sr.  

Chuck was the owner and operator of the family business, Whispering Oaks Salvage.  Prior to owning Whispering Oaks Chuck was a head tech at Sunny Honda.  He also worked at AC Foundry and was an owner of a gas station in the outskirts of Battle Creek.  

Chuck is survived by his children, Charlotte (Robb) Lewis of Union City, Charles E. Woods Jr. of Butler, IN., Matthew (Miranda Sellers) Woods of Bella Vista, AK, Russtina Bizwell of Hamilton, IN. and Mandy (Phillip) Schuman of Corunna, IN.; grandchildren, Arick (Brittany) Lewis of Lincoln, NE, Jakob Lewis of Union City, Adam Woods of Ft. Wayne, IN,, Trevyr Woods of Bella Vista, AK., Heather Bizwell of Ft. Wayne, IN., India and John Schuman of Corunna, IN., great-grandchildren, Logan Lewis of Lincoln, NE., Elijah, Isaiah, and Judah Bizwell of Ft. Wayne, IN.; sister, Marilyn Ashley of Battle Creek and brother, Paul Woods Jr. (Butchy) of Battle Creek and Chuck’s loving pet companions, Spider and Bo Bo.  

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Jennie and Paul Woods Sr.; Sister, Tracy Pierce and brother, David Ray Woods.  

Chuck enjoyed collecting cars, guns and swords.   He was a passionate collector of all sorts.  Whispering Oaks was a perfect place for Chuck to meet people.  He was very well known and loved to talk to everyone.  He was known for Double or Nothing coin flip at the yard.  He lost and won big but he loved interacting with people and making memories.  He also was an animal lover.  Chuck loved his pets; they were his closest companions all the way to the end.  He will be greatly missed.  

A memorial service to celebrate Chuck’s life will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care.  Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
