Charlotte Lena Lynd

Charlotte Lena Lynd, age 73, of Battle Creek died peacefully at Bronson Battle Creek on Tuesday evening, November 27, 2018. She was born in Wausau, Wisconsin on April 10, 1945 the daughter of Lester and Lillian (Wasmundt) Jaecks. Her family moved to Battle Creek in 1947, where she was raised by foster families. Charlotte attended Davenport University, and served for many years as a records clerk with the Community Action Agency of Battle Creek, and also worked at EPI.

In 1962, Charlotte married Leon James Taylor, Jr., and had five children. Their marriage ended in divorce. She later married Lester M. Lynd in 1995; they had 15 loving years together before he preceded her in death. Charlotte is survived by her five children, Tammy Rigel of Battle Creek, Tonya (Phil) Smith of Wayland, Theadore (Melanie) Taylor of Florida, Teone (Alex) Toman of Battle Creek and Tricia Payne of North Carolina; her step-children, Tina (Bill) Simmons of Irons, Cynthia (Terry) Burton and Julia Lynd, both of Battle Creek; several grandchildren & great-grandchildren; brother, Merrill Kies; sister, Marilyn(Dean) Herbert; and several nieces, nephews & dear friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Leon J. Taylor, Jr.; her son-in-law, Tom Rigel; her step-father, Oscar Sheetz; and a sister, Beverly Humphreys.

Charlotte was a member of the Athens VFW Post #5319 Auxiliary. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, sewing and all other types of arts & crafts, and spending time with her family and friends.

A memorial luncheon to honor Charlotte will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 16, 2018 at the Athens VFW Post# 5319, 120 Veterans Drive, Athens, MI 49011.
