Charlotte June "Char" (Bishop) VanDenburg

Charlotte June VanDenburg, age 95 passed from this world to her home in Heaven on Friday, April 26, 2024. 

She was born June 7, 1928, in Battle Creek, MI to Marion Charles Bishop and Cora Mae (Hart) Bishop. Charlotte married Leroy H. VanDenburg on May 7, 1994; he preceded her in death on January 18, 2019. She is survived by a sister, Donna Hoxie; three sons, Gordon E. Maxson of Battle Creek, MI, Steven R. Maxson of Charlotte MI, and Jeffery L. (JoAnn) Roberts of Hastings MI; grandchildren, Christopher (Janice) Maxson, Kevin (Jennah) Maxson, Angela (Matt) Joppie, Bethany (Travis) Elegert, and Austin “A.J.” (Grace) Roberts; step-grandchildren, Ben Newton and Cody Newton; great-grandchildren, Payton Joppie, Annica Joppie, Brooklynn Maxson, Cora Elegert, Conner Elegert, and Camden Elegert.  Charlotte was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Gordon Bishop, and Adelbert Bishop; sister, Beatrice Harper; and ex-husbands, Milton R. Maxson, Bert L. Roberts, Rex M. Scott. 

 Charlotte attended Lakeview Schools and worked after school at Post Cereals where she met Milton who worked in the office after serving in the Army in WWII.  She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, crossword and puzzles, walking, traveling on many trips and was an avid reader. Charlotte read her Bible through many times since 1971. She created many Family History Books and had copies made to hand out to her family members. Charlotte loved her family very much and always looked forward to family gatherings and holidays very much. 

 Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon, Thursday May 2, 2024, at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, where a visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The service will be live-streamed at https://vimeo.com/event/4274355. A committal service and interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
