Cheryel Lois Yingling, age 72, of Battle Creek died at Bronson Battle Creek on Sunday, July 20, 2014.
She was born September 5, 1941, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Charles William and Alma (Heflin) Emery. Cheryel was a graduate of Medeira High School. Cheryel was a devoted member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, where she volunteered for Vacation Bible School, served on the Mission committee and made a trip to the Holy Land. Aside from her mission at Chapel Hill, she was also instrumental in the organization of CROP Walks throughout Michigan. She was previously employed by Church World Services, Hudson's, and Staple's. Cheryel enjoyed playing solitaire, scrapbooking, breakfast with friends and collecting sheep. She persevered through life challenges with her positive and sassy attitude and was a wonderful, loving mother, grandmother and friend. She has and will continue to touch the lives of all who knew her.
Surviving are her son, Jarrod (Keyla) Yingling of Kalamazoo; daughter, Jodi (Jamie) Warner of Battle Creek; and three grandchildren, Amber Warner, Lauren Yingling and Jacob Yingling. Cheryel was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Karen Cordey.
Friends will be received on Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m.
