Cheryl K. Curtis, 66, a lifelong Battle Creek resident died unexpectedly while battling cancer on Tuesday, August 19, 2015.
Cheryl was born February 28, 1949, in Battle Creek the daughter of Richard E. and Doretha S. (Scott) Barnes. She grew up in Battle Creek and was a 1967 graduate of Lakeview High School. Cheryl retired from Med Service on Columbia Avenue. She previously worked for Comcast, formerly Wolverine Cable Vision, and Capital Florist. After her retirement, she worked part time at Getaway Sports with her son.
Surviving are two sons, Chad R. Curtis of Battle Creek and Matthew R. Curtis of Phoenix, AZ; her sister, Susan M. (Dennis) Duval of Battle Creek; her brother, Richard S. (Patricia) Barnes of Battle Creek; five nieces and nephews, Scott (Jennifer) Barnes, Sara (Kraig) Dingman, Ryan (Jenny) Duval, Regan Duval and Benjamin (Kim) Duval; and nine great nieces and nephews.
Cheryl's family was her number one priority and that extended to all of her nieces, nephews and their families. She will be remembered as a kind and caring person.
Friends will be received 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 23, 2015, at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Funeral services will be officiated by Rev. Robert G. Muirhead at the funeral home 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2014. Committal and interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
