Cynthia Jo Clemens-Bailey

August 30, 1960 - February 2, 2026

Cindy, a woman of deep song, adventurous spirit, and quiet strength, passed away on February 2, 2026. After a long and private struggle, Cindy’s weary heart has finally found the profound peace and stillness she so deserved.

Born in Angola, Indiana, to Jack and Norma Clemens, Cindy was an outgoing and vibrant child, the second of four siblings. Her early years were marked by the simple beauty of a rustic cabin in Bronson, Michigan—a setting that likely sparked her lifelong devotion to the outdoors. Cindy eventually followed her heart to Kellogg Community College, where she started working towards her Bachelor degree in Recreation Management and met her college sweetheart, Scott Bailey. They were married on June 24, 1987, beginning a 39-year journey of partnership and love.

Cindy’s life was a melody of many notes. She was an accomplished musician and singer, a talented artist, and a dedicated English teacher who found joy in the written word, including documenting her own family history. Her adventurous soul led her to the rugged peaks of Dolores County, Colorado, the Blue Mountains of Utah, and the heights of Devils Tower in Wyoming. Whether she was rock climbing or simply enjoying the changing seasons on the lake with her favorite pets, Cindy was most at home in the quiet of nature.

While many knew her as quiet and unassuming, her family and friends will forever remember a woman with the heart of a lioness—generous, protective, and incredibly strong. The heavy burdens she carried have now been laid down, and she is at rest in the light of the wilderness she so loved.

Cindy is survived by her devoted husband, Scott; her brother, Mark Clemens; and her sisters, Deborah Clemens Salisbury and Jackie Clemens Mayenschein. Cindy also leaves behind her nieces and nephews, Allison, Alexis, Eric, Adam, Brent, and Bruce whom she cherished dearly, holding each of them close to her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Norma Clemens.
