Clara E. Hennaut, age 93, of Battle Creek passed away Sunday morning, August 13, 2017 at Bronson Battle Creek with her family at her side. She was born in Dayton, TN on August 6, 1924, the loving daughter of John E. and Edith G. (Schrimpsher) Newby. Clara retired from the Battle Creek Sanitarium in 1985 after more than 27 years of services as a Mental Health Aide and Physical Therapy Assistant. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, crocheting, puzzles, and loved spending time with her family.
Clara married the "Love of Her Life", Florent "Blackie" Hennaut in Battle Creek on November 11, 1947; he sadly preceded her in death on September 3, 1985. She is survived by her son, Emile (Fran) Hennaut; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Renee (David) Bush-Gerber of Charlotte and Kenneth Vaughn (Nicky) Hennaut of Battle Creek; 5 great-grandchildren, Cody Hennaut, Christopher Bush, Brittaney Kinney, Jensen Bush, and Dustin Hennaut; a great-great grandson, Cooper Hennaut; and several nieces and nephews. Clara was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
The family will receive friends 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 17th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care where services to celebrate her life will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 18th. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers please consider making donations to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Lung Association.
