Clarence J. Debruine

Clarence J. "Red" DeBruine, 85, of Battle Creek, went home to be with the Lord on May 15, 2014. Red was born May 5, 1929 in Battle Creek to Lewis and Amelia (Pfennig) DeBruine. He attended Hastings Schools and went on to be a tool and die maker for Michigan Carton and Container Co., retiring after 48 years of dedicated service. On July 1, 1950, Clarence married his wife, Marilyn Davis, and the couple enjoyed 46 years of marriage.

Clarence loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his
vegetable and flower gardens and was a member of the Ten High Hunting Club and especially enjoyed following the Detroit Tigers. He attended Pleasantview Family Church and was a former member of Urbandale Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Marshall. Most of all, Clarence enjoyed spending time with his family.

Clarence is survived by his three daughters, Joyce (Don) Grollimund of Anderson, IN, Debbi (Gary) Nichols of Battle Creek, and June (Bob Simmons) Affron of Battle Creek; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and his special sweetheart, Mary Jo Melbourne of Green Valley, AZ. He was preceded in death by his Parents, five siblings and his wife Marilyn.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 18, 2014 from 4-6 p.m. and Monday, May
19, 2014 from 1-2 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, where funeral services to celebrate Clarence's life will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, officiated by Rev. Steven Olmstead.
